斯托姆（August Ludvig Storm, 1862-1914）作词，赫尔特曼（John A. Hultman, 1861-1942）作曲，巴克斯特伦（Carl Ernest Backstrom ）英译（1931年），刘福群、何统雄、林翠微原汉译

这是一首著名的瑞典圣诗。原文共有四节，每句都以“感谢神”开头，共有三十二个“感谢神”。巴克斯特伦在把这首诗译成英语时删除了第三节。

词作者斯托姆在救世军的聚会中蒙恩，后来成为瑞典救世军领导人之一。这首诗是为救世军的刊物而作。斯托姆在三十七岁时，背部受重伤，以至终身残疾，不时疼痛不已，但他继续在救世军聚会中讲道，并为刊物写作。

曲作者赫尔特曼也是瑞典人，童年时随父母移民美国。六十多年时间里，他以优美的歌声，往返于瑞典和美国之间，进行圣诗演唱，广受欢迎，被誉为“阳光歌手”。他共创作过五百多首歌。他八十一高龄在加利福尼亚州的一个教会里演唱福音圣诗时逝世。
